Block Talk ~ Christopher Barclay Stories and Photography from the Maryland Civil Rights Educational Freedom Experience
June 6 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pmFree
Chris Barclay, photojournalist and Operations Director, Arts on the Block
in conversation with James L. Stowe, Director, Montgomery County’s Office of Human Rights
This insightful and frank conversation will focus on Maryland’s Civil Rights Educational Freedom Experience, an annual immersive travel experience that explores the birthplace of the American Civil Rights Movement.
As the official photographer for the 10th anniversary event, Mr. Barclay traveled by bus to retrace the Freedom Trail, taking a remarkable journey into the lives of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, and visiting the sites of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Greensboro Sit-Ins, and other historic events.
Unfortunately, this year’s Freedom Experience has been postponed due to COVID-19. We are grateful to Chris for his creative leadership and the opportunity to gather together online to view these remarkable images and share stories from years past. AOB is honored to host this online event in collaboration with the Montgomery County Office of Human Rights.
Free event, all are welcome, suitable for children
