The U.S. Senate last week confirmed U.S. Court of Federal Claims Judge Lydia Griggsby to be a U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Maryland. Judge Griggsby, who was confirmed by a 59-39 vote and lives in Silver Spring, will be the first Black woman and first woman of color to serve as a federal district court judge in Maryland.

Newly designated Takoma Park city manager Jamal Fox released a statement last week regarding his selection for the position.
The county has released schedule changes that will be in effect on Memorial Day Monday, May 31. County and state offices, state courts and county libraries will be closed, as will the Brookside Nature Center.
Jamal Fox, currently the city administrator in Camas, Washington, has been designated as the new city manager for Takoma Park by Mayor Kate Stewart and the City Council.
The County Council has reappointed Commissioner Tina Patterson to the Montgomery County Planning Board for a second term, recognizing Patterson’s experience in alternative dispute resolution, commitment to economic development and the parks system, as well as her work on racial equity and social justice issues.
