A local nonprofit is marking a one-year anniversary this month that they never expected to see. Community Connections was started in March 2020 by Silver Spring Cares, founded by Liz Brent, owner of Go Brent, a local real estate agency. Leaders from The City of Takoma Park and Montgomery County Council will commemorate the launch of the Feed The Fridge program in the city this Friday, February 26 at the Takoma Park Recreation Center.
The Old Takoma Business Association received a grant of $264,549 from the state of Maryland for its Main Street program, Gov. Larry Hogan (R) announced today. The grant was part of $7 million the state awarded to 41 Main Street programs in Maryland.
The Baltimore Sun and its affiliates are set to be acquired by a nonprofit formed by Takoma Park businessman and philanthropist Stewart Bainum, Jr., according to a report from the newspaper.
