Silver Spring Man Sentenced to Seven Years in Armed Robbery of Takoma Park Jewelry Store

A Silver Spring man was sentenced to seven years and a day in federal prison in a case of armed robbery of a Takoma Park jewelry store in 2019. As part of a plea agreement, Ever Ramiro Torres Enriquez, age 25, will be under supervised release for three years following his prison term and was ordered to pay restitution of $174,967, the full amount of the victim’s loss.

Driver Charged With Hit-and-Run, Handgun Possession, Other Offenses

Officers with the county’s Holiday Alcohol Task Force arrested a hit-and-run driver Dec. 30 and charged him with several offenses, including possession of a loaded handgun. Humberto Guerra, age 26, of Bronzegate Place in Silver Spring was identified as the driver of a white Nissan Versa that hit an unoccupied, parked vehicle around Carroll Avenue and Osage Street in the Langley Park area.

CAIR Condemns Vandalism in Takoma Park

The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) yesterday condemned an act of vandalism where a swastika was spray-painted onto the back of a vehicle in Takoma Park, and welcomed a hate crime investigation by local authorities into the incident.
