Police: Stolen Car & License Plates; Theft From Auto; Vandalism

Takoma Park Police are alerting residents of a recent incident of a stolen auto & license plates, theft from a car, and vandalism.

On December 29, 2020, at approximately 10:00 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue (RT Automotive) for the report of a stolen auto, four stolen license plates, theft from auto, and vandalism, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy:

Sometime between December 28 at 5:30 pm and December 29 at 7:15 am, unknown suspect(s) stole an automobile and license plates from the business lot. The outstanding stolen vehicle is described as a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron, Maryland tag #Z28777. The license plates were Maryland #4EJ4674 (rear tag), #5DA0572 (rear tag) and DC #GG7435 (front and rear tag). In addition, some of the vehicles on the lot were rummaged through, and property was stolen. In one vehicle, the ignition cylinder was damaged when the suspect(s) attempted to steal the vehicle. Another vehicle had the front window broken out.

The outstanding stolen automobile and tags have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database, and the investigation continues under case #200051183.
