Council to Hold Hearing, Vote on Proposal to Create Automatic Triggers for Reopening

The County Council is planning an introduction, public hearing and vote next week on a revised Board of Health regulation that would add automatic triggers for reopening the county based on the percentage of residents receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. The proposal would amend the current regulation to add three phases of reopening based on the percentages reported by the county’s health officer to the Board of Health.

Downtown Silver Spring has signed two new tenants and a current one will change locations, Laurie Yankowski, regional director, marketing for The Peterson Cos., confirmed. Flip’d by IHOP, a new fast-casual concept from the chain known for its signature pancakes, will take the place once filled by Asian Bistro, next to Panera at 8537 Georgia Ave.

Restaurants, Diners Invited to Participate in MoCo Eats Week

Restaurants and diners in Montgomery County, as well as local craft beverage and food producers, are invited to participate in the upcoming MoCo Eats Week event, which runs from April 23 to May 3. The promotion, organized by Visit Montgomery and the county’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Services, allows diners to enjoy food and drinks at discounted prices. In addition to discounts for diners, restaurants will gain exposure from the event’s promotion by the county.

Urban One’s Resort/Casino Proposal Still in Richmond Mix

Silver Spring-based Urban One, a multimedia entertainment and information company, remains in the running to build a resort/casino in Richmond, Va., according to a report in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The company announced its plans in February and was one of six original bidders on an economic development project.
