Downtown Silver Spring to Host First-Ever Chalk Fest

Downtown Silver Spring will host its first-ever Chalk Fest on Saturday, April 29, event partner Chalk Riot announced.

Chalk Riot’s new seasonal street mural will be unveiled during the “colorful day of chalk art and community,” which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Ellsworth Drive between Fenton Street and Georgia Ave.

The event will feature demonstrations by professional chalk artists, entertainment by a DJ, and food and drink from Downtown Silver Spring restaurants:

Join us for a colorful day of chalk art and community at the first ever Downtown Silver Spring Chalk Festival! Watch as artists decorate the roads with colorful chalk art, create your own masterpiece, or doodle in sidewalk chalk with the kids in our Community Chalk Zone. Our newest 400-foot-long street mural design will be unveiled to the public, and a DJ will keep the energy high. Fuel your day with food and drinks from the wide variety of restaurants in Downtown Silver Spring!

All participants must make a reservation in order to participate. There are limited spaces available; no experience is necessary, and all materials are supplied.

Should it rain, the festival will be moved to Sunday, April 30.
