Work Begins on Ellsworth Drive Large-Scale Mural

Work has begun on a 350-foot-long large-scale street mural on the pedestrian-only portion of Ellsworth Drive in the Downtown Silver Spring development.

Chalk Riot, a Washington-based public arts production company that specializes in pavement art and interactive murals, some using augmented reality, is creating the work. The woman-owned and -operated business is led by principals Chelsea Ritter-Soronen and Liza Fishbone, who work with a team of artists.

The group has created art for cities such as Takoma Park, Washington, Baltimore, Fairfax, Va., Pittsburgh and others around the country.

The project is scheduled to be finished later this month.
