The street resurfacing work in Takoma Park has been postponed and is now expected to start on Monday, June 14, according to an advisory from the city’s police department.
The affected streets will have about two inches of paving milled away and then be repaved; the work is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.
The streets that will be resurfaced are:
- New York Avenue from Takoma Avenue to Baltimore Avenue
- Baltimore Avenue from New York Avenue to Philadelphia Avenue
- Birch Avenue from Cedar Avenue to Barclay Avenue
- Maple Avenue from Philadelphia Avenue to Maplewood Avenue, and
- Maplewood Avenue from Maple Avenue to Flower Avenue.
The work will be done between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and access to the street will be limited or blocked during milling, and completely blocked during paving.
No parking will be allowed on the streets during work, but parking can resume after 5 p.m. so long vehicles are moved before work resumes at 7 a.m. Speed humps and street markings will be reinstalled a week or so after the paving is completed.
If residents have critical, scheduled events such as dialysis appointments, medical transport, appliance delivery, or a household move, they should contact Public Works at 301.891.7611.
