Takoma Park Police Renew Plea for Leads in Unsolved Murder Case

Takoma Park Police are seeking public assistance to identify the perpetrator of a murder that occurred at Advance Auto Parts in July 2022 involving a mobile mechanic.

Nurhusen Hamid, who was working as a mobile mechanic in the Advance Auto Parts parking lot at 6300 New Hampshire Ave., was shot on Saturday, July 16, 2022, by an unknown suspect, according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The suspect fled the area on foot and entered a white SUV before leaving the scene on Eastern Ave. and heading into the District of Columbia via New Hampshire Ave.

Hamid passed away due to his injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital, according to Plevy, who described the suspect as a Black male wearing a white t-shirt, dark baseball cap, and jeans.

A cash reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and indictment. Anyone with information about the shooting or potential security camera footage is asked to contact lead investigator Lieutenant Joseph Butler at (301) 891-7111. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at (866) 411-TIPS (8477), online, or through the P3 Tips app.
