$10,000 Reward Offered in 2022 Murder Case

Police in Takoma Park are seeking help identifying the suspect in the July 2022 murder of a mobile mechanic at Advance Auto Parts.

A cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of those responsible for the murder.

Police have not publicly released surveillance video of the fatal shooting, citing the graphic content, according to spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The video may be viewed by contacting Detective Charles Earle, who is conducting the investigation.

“The victim, [Nurhusen Muhammed Hamid], was working as a mobile mechanic on the Advance Auto Parts parking lot in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Ave.,” Plevy said. “An unknown suspect approached the victim and shot him. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect fled the parking lot on foot onto Eastern Ave. and entered a waiting white in colored SUV, then fled the area into the District of Columbia on New Hampshire Ave.”

Plevy said that the suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a white tee shirt, dark baseball cap, and jeans.
