Mark’s Kitchen Placed For Sale; To Remain Open in Takoma Park

Takoma Park institution Mark’s Kitchen has been placed for sale and will remain open for an undetermined amount of time, according to a report from The MoCo Show.

We reported last month that the restaurant would be closing at the end of January after 32 years of business in Takoma Park, with owner Mark Choe set to retire.

The MoCo Show said in their report that three signs were placed on the restaurant’s door: “Sorry for the confusion. Mark’s Kitchen will remain open until the business is sold.” “We do not know what is the last day. Sorry.” “Thank you for your patience with this ongoing uncertainty.”

The restaurant has amassed a loyal following over the years, with reviews calling it a “reliable place for a bite” and “a long-time local experience“.

At a recent City Council meeting, Mayor Talisha Searcy honored Mark’s Kitchen owner Mark Choe as one of three retiring Takoma Park business owners. Mayor Searcy presented proclamations to Choe, Mark Howard of Takoma Framers, and Eric Sepler of Kinetic Artistry.
