Takoma Park Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Incident

The Takoma Park police are investigating a shooting that occurred this morning (April 7), resulting in two fatalities, according to a department press release.

Officers responded at about 5 a.m. to multiple reports of shots fired in the parking lot area of the Takoma Overlook Condominiums at 7333 New Hampshire Ave.

When they arrived, an off-duty officer from the Pentagon Force Protection Force Agency approached.

“[The officer] advised he observed what he thought was a car being broken into. He engaged the suspects who failed to follow his direction,” the release said. “The suspects attempted to flee in a vehicle at which time the officer discharged his service weapon.”

Shortly after, two of the suspects, both suffering gunshot wounds, appeared at the Prince George’s Hospital, where they succumbed.

The Pentagon Force Protection Force Agency has been notified. The Takoma Park police are consulting with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office during the investigation.
