Preleasing of Central apartments at the corner of Fenton Street and Wayne Avenue is now underway, according to an announcement from developer Grosvenor Americas.

The leasing office is located in a loft-style apartment on the first floor of Bonifant Street, across from Montgomery County’s Lot 29 parking lot on the corner of Bonifant and Easley.

The building will include 243 apartments with a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments featuring kitchens with quartz countertops, Energy Star® stainless steel appliances, a full-size washer and dryer, and amenities such as USB charger outlets and wood-style flooring.

Other amenities include a pool and sundeck, three outdoor terraces, a multimedia clubroom with entertainment bar, a 24-hour fitness center, group exercise studio, business lounge, resident bike storage and repair shop, and a pet washing station. In addition, some apartments will have balconies and some units will be loft-style townhomes.

The ground floor will include 15,080 square feet retail space.

The building occupies the former site of the First Baptist Church. The development agreement included a plan to build a new church and daycare center. This building will be behind the apartments, facing Wayne Avenue. It will serve three congregations (collectively known as the Federated Baptist Churches of Silver Spring): Eglise Baptists de la Foi, First Baptist Church and Iglesia Bautista Emanuel.

In addition, a public walkway with a sculpture by Rodney Carroll is planned to separate the church from the apartment building and to provide a pedestrian connection between Wayne Avenue and Bonifant Street.

Bozzuto Management will lease and manage the new apartment building. The company also manages the Fenwick and Takoma Central apartments, among many others. Occupancy in Central is expected to begin in September.
