Perfect Weather, Great Entertainer Highlight Jazz Festival

One perfect weather day. Two stages. Seven performing groups. Seven hours of music. And several thousand fans.

Grammy-winning Arturo Sandoval headlined the annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival Sunday. He showed he’s a multi-instrumental master, playing grand piano (his true love, he said), electronic keyboards, timbales and percussion, and of course, the trumpet for which he’s best known.

He also proved to be a great entertainer, telling jokes (self deprecating and others), and singing songs such as “When I Fall in Love,” made famous by Nat King Cole (his favorite singer, he told the audience).
