Win a Year of Free Pizza at PizzaForno’s Grand Opening Festivities

The local franchisee of the PizzaForno automated pizza vending machine is set to host a grand opening on March 22.

Entrepreneur A.J. Grillo, the franchisee of the machines, will lead the event scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The grand opening will feature complimentary pizza, family-friendly music, games, freebies, and giveaways. Attendees will have the chance to win prizes through various games, and a special “Enter to Win” contest will grant two fortunate winners free pizza for an entire year.

The PizzaForno machine can be found outside the Arrive Silver Spring apartment building at 8750 Georgia Ave in downtown Silver Spring. The machine was installed in December and began operations in late January.

According to a PizzaForno press release, Grillo’s journey in the hospitality industry began at age 16 as a busser and host at TGI Fridays in Springfield, Va. After pursuing studies in Communication and Criminal Justice at the University of Louisville, he further developed his skills as a server at multiple establishments.

Progressing in his career, Grillo dedicated over 14 years to TGI Fridays, eventually achieving the position of General Manager with United Restaurant Group in Richmond. This group, overseen by Tony Grillo, A.J.’s father, stands as the second largest franchisee of TGI Fridays, operating 32 restaurants.

Expressing his dedication to excellence and innovation, Grillo emphasized his enthusiasm for embarking on a new chapter with PizzaForno in Maryland. He expressed eagerness to serve as a licensee of PizzaForno and outlined plans to expand the brand’s presence across Virginia and Washington D.C.

“As we introduce the very first PizzaForno unit into Maryland, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the journey ahead,” Grillo said. “I’m excited to be a licensee of PizzaForno, and look forward to continuing to grow the brand across Virginia and Washington D.C.”

PizzaForno said that Grillo’s strong commitment to introducing this dining option to the area is evident as he strategizes to install units in universities, hospitals, apartment complexes, and other locations where individuals can benefit from convenient, 24/7 access to their offerings. While focusing on expanding in Maryland, Grillo also aspires to introduce the brand to Virginia and Washington D.C.

Les Tomlin, Co-Founder and President of PizzaForno, highlighted the company’s dedication to innovation and customer needs. He expressed confidence in the brand’s growth under Grillo’s expertise and commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry.

“This expansion reflects our unwavering commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our customers,” said Les Tomlin, Co-Founder and President of PizzaForno. “With A.J.’s expertise in the hospitality industry and passion for excellence, we look forward to seeing PizzaForno flourish in new markets.”

PizzaForno said that the company is aiming to have 25,000 operating units by 2028.
