The family of a man who was struck and killed by a driver in Montgomery Hills has raised over $20,000 through a GoFundMe campaign, according to The MoCo Show.

Montgomery County Police reported last week that a driver in a gray 2020 Honda CR-V was heading north on Georgia Ave. when they struck 27-year-old Khalid Shakir Scriven of Gaithersburg, who was in the roadway near Flora Lane. Scriven was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to his obituary, Scriven attended Westmoreland Children’s Center, Westbrook Elementary School, and Westland Middle School in Bethesda. He graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 2016 before enrolling at Montgomery College and later Full Sail University Online for a brief period:

At an early age, Khalid was baptized and joined Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland. He loved participating in the Youth group and adventuring with the church in various activities. Khalid was always a dreamer, whenever he set his mind on an objective he would work endlessly to achieve his goal. Over time his number one passion became soccer. He always dreamed of going professional or starting his own team. Before Khalid found soccer he was known as a fearless skateboarder. His prowess on the board knew no bounds and he spent countless hours perfecting his skills. Khalid was a true artist. He was extremely talented and creative with his artwork, truly blessed with the ability to make any idea into a picture on a canvas. Khalid was a tremendously gentle soul. His love for life had no discrimination whether animal, insect, or person. He treated all living things with the utmost compassion and tenderness, a gentle giant whom never demonstrated any physical ability to cause harm to another within his 27 years of life.
