The Silver Spring Recreation & Aquatic Center is set to open on Saturday, February 24, according to Montgomery County Recreation.

A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m., followed by the facility opening to the public at noon.

Located at 1319 Apple Ave. in downtown Silver Spring, the facility boasts a nearly 120,000 square feet area, including three pools, a community center, a fitness center, and a gym. Recently opened at the complex are The Leggett, a 267-unit, 16-story mixed-income senior living facility, and a Holy Cross Health Partners primary care practice.

Additionally, the Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame will find its home within the complex, featuring a larger-than-life sculpture of Olympic gold medalist and native Silver Spring athlete Dominique Dawes, commissioned by the county.
