Locavino will hold a grand opening of its wine café and retail operation at 8519 Fenton St. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17-18, according to co-owner Jarrod Jabre. The Source will post details tomorrow morning about planned tastings, menu offerings and other information.
Fat Fingers began operating last week with a soft opening at 8213 Georgia Ave. in anticipation of its grand opening, tentatively scheduled for August 19. The restaurant features comfort foods such as several types of cheesesteaks, burgers and other sandwiches, pizzas, half smokes and hot dogs, three salads, fish sandwiches, a crab cake, and side dishes such as mac and cheese.
The Go Brent real estate brokerage has moved into the space at 914 Silver Spring Ave. formerly occupied by Innovative Business Interiors. The move is part of a trend that is seeing former street-facing retail space occupied by service businesses in downtown and elsewhere.
Urban Butcher is back this week to its regular operating hours with a new look and a new menu. The restaurant has added new starter dishes and seafood entrées while retaining many of the familiar beef offerings. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m. daily except Monday, with happy hour for 5-7:30 p.m.
The grand opening of District Taco in the Blair Park Shopping Center on East-West Highway will be held at noon Monday, July 1. A portion of the day’s profits will go to Level the Playing Field, a Silver Spring-based nonprofit that provides sports equipment to underprivileged youth in the area. The first 100 customers in line will receive a goodie bag and a free meal.
“We’re getting very close,” promised Meg Kavanagh, marketing manager for District Taco, about opening a new store in the Blair Park Shopping Center on East-West Highway. A few lingering construction issues stand in the way of scheduling a grand opening, which should be soon.
The owner of Kaldi’s Social House will take over the space at 8113 Georgia Ave. currently occupied by Pacci’s Pizzeria and turn it into a restaurant with an American-themed menu.
Denizens Brewing Co. will open its new location in Riverdale Park May 25, an expansion that will allow the company to offer retail sales in the county’s liquor stores, according to Julie Verratti, co-founder and chief brand officer.
