The Art of Tea Dyeing
June 4 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join interdisciplinary artist Shelby Kelley in discovering the serendipitous art of Tea Dyeing. Spend the first session prepping multiple designs on various papers, while exploring mixed media combinations that include materials such as leaves, tea, pencil, ink, and watercolor. During week two and three, use your tea-dyed creations in final pieces such as: art pieces, greeting cards, or illustrations. Shelby Kelley will provide personal examples done through various techniques to inspire the many possibilities this practice holds. Experience level: Beginner.
Heavy paper (watercolor, mixed media, the heavier it is the less it will buckle)
Black Tea and a lighter tea of your choice (green tea, mint, etc.)
Dried objects for pressing (leaves, etc.)
any type of board to press on top of the paper
Watercolor (palette, pencils, etc.)
Optional: Cinnamon for fragrance and texture, pens, acrylic paints, etc.
*Suggestions on where to get materials will be in your registration confirmation email
