Certain Party or Parties Unknown
November 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Be Part of History.
Certain Party or Parties Unknown, a temporary multi-media public art exhibition furthering community dialogue about racial justice and increasing awareness of local history, takes place on Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6 in downtown Rockville from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Six regional artists were commissioned by the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) to create social justice art installations focused on the three known lynchings that took place in Montgomery County during the late 1880s. Each of these installations will be projected onto buildings across two city blocks in downtown Rockville. Beginning at the Historic Red Brick Courthouse, visitors will take a short walking tour to view the installations and learn more about this part of the county’s history.
More information on Certain Party or Parties Unknown, the artists, and the inspiration behind their work can be found at: www.creativemoco.com/cppu
The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County launched this project as a member of Montgomery County’s Remembrance and Reconciliation Commission and in support of Remembrance and Reconciliation Month.
Lead artist Robin Bell of Bell Visuals worked with AHCMC to design the layout of this exhibition and collaborated with all six artists — Curtis Woody, Nikki Brooks, Tim Davis, Alix Lambert, Liz Miller and LaShell Rivers — to create of their digital artworks.
