Building Community Celebration
December 7, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$25 – $175
The Montgomery County Renters Alliance, Inc., will hold its Third Annual Building Community Celebration, Thursday, December 7 at Denizens Brewery, 1115 East-West Highway in Silver Spring. A VIP reception will begin at 6 p.m. followed by at Community Reception from 7-9p.m. VIP tickets are $99 ($175 for couples) and $25 for the Community Reception. Free tickets are also available for low income residents.
Since the Renters Alliance founding in 2010, we have helped hundreds of renters manage disputes with their landlords, worked with dozens of properties to organize tenants associations and helped thousands of renters, County residents, elected officials and opinion leaders better understand renters’ rights and responsibilities. And last December, we proudly watched County Executive Isiah Leggett sign the first comprehensive renter protection legislation in more than four decades. But our work continues. As awareness of renters’ rights grows, so do demands for our services. Still, with just 60 days notice, a landlord can evict a tenant with no stated reason. Still, with just 90 days notice, a landlord can raise rents to any amount they choose. And we have much work to do to strengthen government enforcement of renters’ rights.
So join us for an evening of fun and show your support for our critical work to ensure that renters’ homes remain affordable, quality, stable places to live.
