Elrich Names Department Heads; Navarro Elected Council President

County Executive Marc Elrich has nominated three people to serve in his administration and will keep eight department heads from the Leggett administration, according to announcements from his office. As expected, Indian Spring resident Andrew Kleine, former Baltimore budget director, has been nominated to serve as chief administrative officer. Montgomery County elected a new county executive for the first time since 2006, and will send three new at-large members to Rockville to serve on the County Council. Councilmember Marc Elrich (D-At Large), after surviving a close primary race against businessman David Blair, earned 225,900 votes (64.3 percent) in unofficial results as of 11:42 p.m. last night. County Setting Up “Citizenship Corners” to Help Immigrants Become Citizens

County, church officials cut ribbon on new affordable housing

County Executive Isiah Leggett joined leaders of the Mount Jezreel Baptist Church and others Saturday to cut the ribbon on a new affordable housing project for residents 62 and older. The Sanctuary is a $20 million, three-story apartment building located at 426 University Blvd. E, behind the existing church and Mount Jezreel Christian School in Silver Spring.
