Dog Haus Biergarten will open in Downtown Silver Spring, according to web reports confirmed by Laurie Yankowski, regional director, marketing for The Peterson Cos. The restaurant, which specializes in gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers, will be located at 933 Ellsworth Dr. in the space formerly occupied by Lebanese Taverna, which moved to 8535 Fenton Street.

Governor Announces COVID Relief Funding for Entertainment Venues

Gov. Larry Hogan (R) announced $30 million in COVID-19 relief funding awarded to more than 90 music and entertainment venues around the state, including four in downtown Silver Spring. “These awards will save hundreds of jobs and help many of Maryland’s entertainment venues sustain their operations until they can safely and fully reopen,” the governor said.

Silver Spring Man Sentenced to Seven Years in Armed Robbery of Takoma Park Jewelry Store

A Silver Spring man was sentenced to seven years and a day in federal prison in a case of armed robbery of a Takoma Park jewelry store in 2019. As part of a plea agreement, Ever Ramiro Torres Enriquez, age 25, will be under supervised release for three years following his prison term and was ordered to pay restitution of $174,967, the full amount of the victim’s loss.

Krazy Steve’s Plans to Close Later This Month

Krazy Steve’s Comfort Cuisine will close later this month, according to owner Stephen Adelson. The planned closing date at this point, he said Sunday, will be on or about Jan. 21. “I have catering gigs scheduled up until basically the day of our closing,” he said. “We’re open for business [until then].”
