Main Street Takoma Unveils Jam-Packed 2024 Spring Event Guide

Main Street Takoma has released its Spring 2024 Event Guide, featuring diverse events to enhance the district in the coming weeks.

From Earth Day celebrations to Pride festivities and Juneteenth commemorations, the lineup promises something for everyone.

April 14th marks the Earth Day: Power to the Planet event from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., featuring music, speakers, and community groups at the TPSS Co-op, 201 Ethan Allen Ave. On April 20th, the Dinky Line event from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. invites attendees to explore Takoma’s historic trolley line route and discover participating businesses in Maryland and Washington, D.C.

The same day, the City of Takoma Park hosts its Earth Day Celebration from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park Playground.

The Market on the Street on April 21st and May 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., showcases local artists and makers hosted by the Takoma Collective on Laurel Avenue.

On April 28th, the Takoma Park Motorcycle Show on Laurel Avenue will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It will celebrate vintage, modern, stock, and customized motorcycles, including British, Japanese, Italian, and American-made models.

May 4th features the Takoma Park Children’s Business Fair on Laurel Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Takoma Flea on May 11th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offers vintage, collectibles, antiques, salvage, and repurposed goods on Grant Avenue.

On May 17th, Music in the Park will bring live music and food trucks to the Takoma Native Pollinator Garden at Triangle Park from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Crossroads Food Fair on May 19th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., showcases delicious hyper-local food and community fun as the talented foodpreneurs of the TPSS Community Kitchen pop up on Laurel Avenue.

On the same day, Lost Sock Roasters will host the Spring Fling Market at the Takoma Theater, 6833 4th St, NW, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., featuring local artists and makers. Between events, Main Street Takoma will offer free pedicab rides.

June 1st brings the Takoma Trukgarten from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., a beer festival with craft beer, cider, and local food in the parking lot at the Takoma Junction, 201 Ethan Allen Avenue.

On June 9th, the Takoma Pride Block Party and Parade will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring entertainment by Tara Hoot, community groups sharing information, a Pride Day photo board, and chalk for creating personal messages of Pride. The parade will begin at the parking lot at the Takoma Junction, 201 Ethan Allen Avenue, and will be followed by a block party on Laurel Avenue.

The Takoma Park House and Garden Tour hosted by Historic Takoma on June 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. concludes the spring festivities.

On June 19th, the Juneteenth Celebration from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., hosted by the Maple Avenue Community Association and the City of Takoma Park, occurs at Lee Jordan Field, located at 7825 Piney Branch Road.
