Preparing for Emergencies: Free Narcan Training and Distribution on April 10th

Montgomery College’s Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus will host a free Narcan training and distribution event next Wednesday.

The Montgomery County Police and Fire & Rescue Service will set up their Community Opioid Prevention Education (COPE) trailer in the adjacent parking lot on King Street, starting at 5:30 p.m. on April 10th.

Dr. Jonna Kirby will moderate a panel discussion featuring a Takoma Park Police officer, a Montgomery College nursing student, and a faculty member from the college’s Nursing Department. Former Takoma Park Mayor and current County Council Vice President Kate Stewart will deliver a 10-minute keynote speech.

After the panel discussion, a Narcan training session will be conducted, and the opioid overdose reversal medication will be distributed to attendees.

The event is open to the public, but registration is mandatory. Interested individuals can register online or contact Ron Hardy at [email protected].
