Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats: Grand Opening Celebration Details Revealed

Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats is set to host a grand opening celebration at its new flagship bakery on Saturday, February 24th at 10 a.m., featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony and cake-cutting to mark this special occasion.

The bakery, owned by two-time “Cupcake Wars” winner Doron Petersan, took over the former space of Soupergirl at 314 Carroll Street NW, opposite the Takoma Metro Station. Soupergirl closed last year after 11 years in the neighborhood to focus on grocery store sales and deliveries.

The grand opening celebration of Sticky Fingers Bakery’s latest retail outlet and flagship commercial kitchen in Takoma offers an exciting opportunity for the first 100 customers attending to receive a complimentary chocolate chip cookie. Throughout the day, the bakery will be providing samples and prizes to attendees. The event will be kicked off by local Drag Queen Tara Hoot, who will entertain guests with bubbles and stories.

Sticky Fingers’ new location features a retail counter for Sticky Fingers products, a grab-and-go section for local favorites like Soupergirl’s soups, and a larger commercial kitchen.

The Takoma retail bakery not only offers its popular items like chocolate chip and Cowvin Cookies, brownies, and seasonal and classic cupcakes but also provides custom cakes. Additionally, customers can enjoy a vegan grab-and-go section and coffee from Alexandria-based Swing’s Coffee.

Savory pastries will soon be added to the bakery’s shelves in the spring.

In addition to the Takoma and NoMa locations, residents in the DMV area can find Sticky Fingers treats at over 100 retail outlets across the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and Southern regions of the US. Notable locations include Foxtrot markets, Streets Markets, Whole Foods Markets, MOM’s Organic Markets, Yes! Organic Markets, Peregrine, and Odd Provisions.

“When I first moved to DC in 1995, I lived in and fell in love with Takoma Park. Ever since we opened our first shop in 2002, I’ve been looking for an opportunity to get back to the most welcoming community I’ve ever known. I am so excited to bring our sweets and eats to the Takoma and Takoma Park community, and have an opportunity to serve Shepherd Park, Silver Spring, Brightwood, and other neighborhoods in the area.  I feel like we’re coming home!,” Petersan said.

Operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Sticky Fingers Bakery caters to various dietary needs, offering vegan, dairy-free, kosher pareve, and gluten-free options. The new production facility and all items baked at the Takoma kitchen are certified kosher pareve by Star-K.
