Three Suspects Arrested in Silver Spring Carjacking

Police in Takoma Park say that three suspects have been arrested in a carjacking that occurred in Silver Spring on Tuesday afternoon.

A carjacking was reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday by Montgomery County Police; the vehicle had just been stolen from Silver Spring and was heading to Takoma Park, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. Later that day, Takoma Park police observed the carjacked vehicle in the 8100 block of Carroll Ave. but lost sight of it at New Hampshire Ave. and Merrimac Drive. A few minutes later, the carjacked vehicle was found in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Ave. Three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot as officers approached. All three suspects were apprehended.

All three suspects were juveniles who were released into the custody of their parents or guardians, and charges are pending in Montgomery County and Takoma Park, Plevy said.
