Police: Suspect Arrested in Sexual Assault With Knife

Takoma Park Police say that 36-year-old Christopher Bernard Wise has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault on March 15 that involved a knife.

Officers responded at approximately 3 p.m. on March 15 to the 7700 block of Maple Ave. for a report of a cutting, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The officers found a female victim with lacerations on her leg. Additionally, the victim reported to the on-scene officers that she had been sexually assaulted. The victim used an online dating app to meet the suspect, Plevy said.

Police were unable to locate the suspect before he fled the scene. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and an arrest warrant was issued for a suspect on multiple charges related to sexual assault.

Investigators from the Takoma Park Police Department were contacted at approximately 1 a.m. on March 25 by investigators from the Fairfax County, Va., Police Department. They advised that they had arrested the Takoma Park rape suspect, Christopher Bernard Wise, 36, of Takoma Park. Wise is held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to Plevy.

Police officers in Fairfax County observed Wise standing over a victim and assaulting him with a hammer while attempting to rob him. Investigators from Takoma Park Police responded to Fairfax County, where officers assisted the investigators in obtaining a search warrant and seizing Wise’s DNA.

A detainer has been filed with Fairfax County Detention Center, pending a hearing on Wise’s extradition to Maryland, Plevy said.
