Suspect Sought in Takoma Park Strong-Arm Carjacking

Police in Takoma Park are investigating a strong-arm carjacking that occurred Monday morning.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Monday to the 7000 block of Carroll Ave. for the report of a carjacking that had just occurred, according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. An unknown suspect approached the victim’s vehicle window and demanded property from her. The victim complied by opening her window slightly. The victim complied with the suspect, who last saw the vehicle driving down Carroll Ave. toward the District, Plevy said.

This vehicle is described as a 2006 gray Nissan Pathfinder, with Maryland tag number 740M503. The outstanding vehicle has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’7-5’11, approximately 190 pounds, last seen wearing a black hoodie jacket and a full mask, Plevy said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Takoma Park Police at (301) 270-1100.
