Suspect Sought in Takoma Park Armed Carjacking

Police in Takoma Park are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed carjacking that occurred Saturday morning.

Officers responded at approximately 10:28 a.m. on Saturday to the 7100 block of Maple Ave. for a report of an armed carjacking, police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said in an emailed community advisory. The suspect ordered the victim out of her vehicle at gunpoint. The victim complied and the suspect fled with her vehicle, Plevy said.

The suspect was described as a Black male, skinny, 5’6 to 5’8, 18-22 years old, last seen wearing all dark clothing and wearing a black ski mask. The suspect’s handgun was described as a small compact black handgun. The victim’s vehicle was described as a 2023 black Toyota. The victim was not seriously injured.

The vehicle was located in the District at approximately 4:08 p.m. Saturday, Plevy said.
