Police Investigating Shots Fired in Takoma Park

Takoma Park Police are investigating shots fired late Saturday night in the 6400 block of 4th Ave., according to an emailed community advisory.

At approximately 11:52 pm Saturday, Takoma Park Police responded to multiple calls about sounds of gunfire near 4th Ave., police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said in an emailed community advisory. During the foot search, officers were unsuccessful in locating suspects, potential victims, or casings.

Officers returned to the area during daylight Sunday and discovered several shell casings indicative of a weapon discharge. Shell casings were impounded.

Additionally, a resident reported that one of the shots fired went through their house; fortunately, no one was physically injured. The bullet fragment was also impounded.

A similar incident occurred in the 6400 block of 4th Avenue between Eastern and Westmoreland on October 15 in which residents reported hearing shots being fired. At approximately 5:00 pm on October 15, officers responded to the area and impounded several spent shell casings.

Additionally, police are also investigating the sound of shots fired overnight Thursday near Trescott Ave.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information or video footage of the incidents is asked to call Takoma Park Police at (301) 270-1100.
