Takoma Park Rec Department Seeks Businesses for Eggstravaganza

The Takoma Park Recreation Department is planning an alternative event to the annual spring egg hunt and is looking for local businesses to help out.

The department is sponsoring the Eggstravaganza event this year, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16 from noon to 3 p.m.

During the event, children from 2 to 8 years old, with parental participation, can solve clues indicating they should visit participating businesses. By saying the magic words “Hippity Hop,” each child will receive a plastic egg filled with treats. In some cases, eggs will include a ticket for a prize bag that can be redeemed at the community center.

The Rec Department will provide the eggs and a window sign for storefronts of businesses that agree to be Eggstravaganza locations.

Businesses must be located in the Takoma Park area and be open during the Eggstravaganza times on both days.

Empty eggs can be returned to the Police Department where the Rec Department will collect them to be sanitized and used again next year.

Businesses that wish to be included can register online.
