Police Investigating Armed Carjacking in Takoma Park

Police are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred overnight in Takoma Park, according to an emailed community advisory.

“On August 26, at approximately 12:25 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7600 block of Maple Avenue for the report of an armed carjacking,” reads the community advisory. “The victim had parked his vehicle and, upon exiting, two subjects approached him; one pointing a black handgun at him. The subjects demanded property before taking the victim’s vehicle.

“The subjects fled in the stolen vehicle on Maple Avenue towards Philadelphia Avenue. Surrounding jurisdictions were notified. The victim was not seriously physically injured. The subjects are described as (1) black male, medium build, last seen wearing a gray/black shirt and black pants, (2) black male, large build, last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.”

Police also issued a bulletin to add that the car in question is a 2012 black Honda Accord, DC TagĀ #FEO979.

“The outstanding vehicle has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database. Investigation continues under case #210033253. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please call us at 301-270-1100.”
