Takoma Park Launches Survey to Ask Residents for Thoughts About a New City Manager

The City of Takoma Park has launched a survey asking residents for their thoughts on city issues and the attributes they think a city manager needs.

Current City Manager Suzanne Ludlow has announced her retirement, planned for later this year, and the city is in the early stage of the search process for a new manager.

“The survey results will be used to inform and will be incorporated into the City Manager recruitment and selection process. The survey results will be shared with the City Council, consultant, and applicants,” according to the city’s website.

The survey is open to city residents, business owners and nearby residents as well. While listing some of the city’s manager’s duties, the survey asks respondents to list skills, attributes and areas of expertise they think a city manager needs.

In addition, there is a section asking opinions about other attributes that could help the new hire be a good fit in the community, one on the value of certain community characteristics, and on opinions about the top three issues the city should focus on for the next three years.

Answers will remain anonymous and shared only the aggregate.
