Takoma Park Street Resurfacing Postponed, Expected to Start June 14

The street resurfacing work in Takoma Park has been postponed and is now expected to start on Monday, June 14, according to an advisory from the city’s police department. The affected streets will have about two inches of paving milled away and then be repaved; the work is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.

NDC Rescinds Cease and Desist Order Against TPSS Co-op

The Neighborhood Development Company has rescinded a cease and desist order directing the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Co-op to stop using the public lot at Takoma Junction for deliveries and terminating the co-op’s lease on the lot, according to a company statement.

County Now Fully Reopened as of 6 a.m. Today

Montgomery County is now fully reopened, with all local health orders and their restrictions lifted as of 6 a.m. this morning. There are no longer any county pandemic-related limits on capacity or distancing, though residents are still subject to certain requirements from the state.

Police Seek Help Locating Silver Spring Woman Missing Since Sunday

Detectives from the county’s police department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Silver Spring woman who has been missing since Sunday. Sandra Lee Bender, age 51, was last leaving the Regency Care of Silver Spring facility (located at 9101 Second Avenue) in the company of a friend at approximately 1:30 pm. [Sunday, May 16].

Takoma Park Police Investigating an Armed Robbery

Takoma Park police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 10:45 p.m on Saturday, April 24 near the intersection of Carroll and Tulip avenues. Police responded to a report and victim said as she stood at the intersection, a black sedan of unknown make and model stopped nearby.

DNA Evidence Leads to Arrest in 2003 Silver Spring Home Invasion Robbery

DNA evidence from a sock has led to the arrest by county police of a suspect in a 2003 home invasion robbery in Silver Spring. Officers with the Major Crimes Division arrested and charged Stacy Howard Moore, age 48, of the 3400 block of 55th Avenue in Hyattsville in connection with the incident, which occurred on January 22, 2003 in an apartment in the 9100 block of Piney Branch Road.
