Pet of the Week: “She enjoys eating, napping, and running laps around her cage.”

“Maple is an adorable two-year-old guinea pig with a talent for mischief. Carrots, salad, and occasional tomatoes are her favorite foods. She enjoys eating, napping, and running laps around her cage. She is a noisy squeaker when hungry (which is most of the time) and her most defining feature is her naturally fluffy “mohawk”.”

Pet of the Week: “He was very lonely without Gus, his bro.”

“Bruno is a 7-year-old Maine coon, that enjoys scratches, cuddles, and naps. He is a love bug and a momma’s boy for sure. He was raised with another cat, Gus who passed in 2019. He was very lonely without Gus, his bro. So on Halloween, he got a new little sister, Buffy. She is a long-haired Russian Blue, who loves to play, play some more, and nap on daddy’s lap. These two are fast friends and can be found sleeping together or sitting on the couch with their parents. They both have their own Instagrams as well. Bruno is @bros_before_treats and Buffy is @iamlilbuffy!”

Pet of the Week: “He coos like a pigeon when announcing himself.”

“Pumpernickel (a.k.a. Nicky) just wants to be in the mix. He was adopted with his brother and sister, but quickly stood out as the chocolate velvet star. He coos like a pigeon when announcing himself, has a high-pitched meow for when he’s hungry, and a deep purr when he’s properly attended to. As kitty parents we recently came to realize that often his agitated whining isn’t for food or treats, but to be held in our arms where he purrs contentedly as he looks out from high above his kingdom. He is only five months old but already seeking big adventures. We hope we can keep him on his toes, and that, even when he’s all grown, he still lets us baby him from time to time.”

Pet of the Week: “She used to sit on my shoulder when she was a kitten when I was working from home.”

“Even though she looks like a full-blooded Siamese, Kitkat was an alley rescue cat along with two siblings who don’t look anything like her. She used to sit on my shoulder when she was a kitten when I was working from home. She loves people and will welcome them to our house by brushing their leg and angling for some petting or a scratch behind the ears.”

Pet of the Week: “Good luck getting her to give you a paw.”

“Meeko is an unemployed 3 year old Australian cattle dog mix that loves to cuddle. She loves a good scritch on the butt and will gladly “sit” for you, but good luck getting her to give you a “paw.” Any D.C. trail is a good place for her to release the zoomies, but the Rock Creek opening in Silver Spring is her go-to. Meeko will gladly run with you (or herd you) and then drop on her back for belly rubs. Don’t fall for it or you’ll gain another shadow.”

Pet of the Week: “Choop is a cat that likes to be wherever you are.”

“Choop is a cat that likes to be wherever you are. She loves to nap with her human parents, play hide and seek, seize hair ties mid-flight, swat at soap bubbles, jump and bury herself into (boxes, bags, drawers, and the refrigerator…if she can find a way), and seems content with life when a Muddy Waters record is playing. She sneezes when she’s happy, silently meows at birds when she sees them outside, loves to scratch the curtains to let her human parents know it’s time to wake up in the morning, and is overall a really wonderful and highly charactered cat. She is more than a cat though, she is our little heart.”

Pet of the Week: “He hates hugs, kisses, and snuggling.”

“Jake is approximately 12 years old and is a Toy Fox Terrier, American Eskimo Dog, and miscellaneous. He loves cheese, bananas, peaches, and mangoes; going for walks in Long Branch Park; his toy chicken; and barking at foxes. He hates hugs, kisses, and snuggling (unless it will get him something that he wants). We tell him that he is the BDE (Best Dog Ever).”

Pet of the Week: “His life goal is to be allowed off leash to actually chase a squirrel (keep dreaming, son).”

“Max is a 3-year-old rescue who joined our family in September. We suspect he is a Jindo, or perhaps a Shiba Inu/Shepherd mix. He loves going on long walks on Sligo Creek Trail, getting treats from curbside pickup at Loyalty Bookstore and Fenwick Beer & Wine, and is always down to make new friends. His life goal is to be allowed off-leash to actually chase a squirrel (keep dreaming, son).”
