Brentwood, Tenn.-based GBT Realty has officially announced the addition of DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse to Ellsworth Place. According to a press release, the discount shoe retailer signed the lease in late 2021 with construction to renovate the former Guitar Center storefront, which is currently underway.
DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse is preparing to close its Ellsworth Drive location on Jan. 22, as the retailer will move into new space inside Ellsworth Place at 8661 Colesville Rd. in downtown Silver Spring.
Ellsworth Place owner GBT Realty Corporation and Cana Development today announced that Commas, a new food hall, will take over a portion of the second level of Ellsworth Place in downtown Silver Spring. The food hall is slated to open in the spring of 2022.
The operators of Downtown Silver Spring will permanently close Ellsworth Drive to vehicular traffic, and lay down nontoxic artificial turf to create what’s described as a “linear urban park.” Bryant Foulger, chairman of Fougler-Pratt, one of the complex’s owners, presented plans for a $10 million renovation of the area to a generally receptive audience of about 60 people last night.
The former Silver Spring Library on Colesville Road would be torn down and replaced with a four-story senior independent living facility, with a child care component, under a plan proposed by the second of two finalists selected in a Request for Proposals process.
