DLH Holdings Corp., an Atlanta-based contractor of healthcare services to the federal government, has purchased Silver Spring’s Social & Scientific Systems for $70 million, according to a press release.
SSS, headquartered at 8757 Georgia Ave., is a public health service organization providing support for clinical and biomedical research, epidemiology, health policy, and program evaluation.
The company’s public health clients include agencies within the Department of Health & Human Services such as the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It also provides technical, research, and program management services to commercial clients, according to its website.
“I’m very pleased that SSS has found, in DLH, a great partner with which to continue delivering high quality health policy, data analytics, and public health services to federal agencies,” Kevin Beverly, president of SSS, said in the release. “Not only does DLH share a similar vision and corporate culture, but the company is dedicated to improving the lives of citizens across the U.S. and around the world. DLH has a reputation for providing a disciplined approach to achieving excellent customer service—including CMMI and ISO certifications—and valuing its employees.”
SSS, a privately held company with about 400 workers, is an employee-owned company that will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of DLH, the release said. Beverly will stay on as SSS president.
DLH is a public company, and it’s not clear how the acquisition will affect SSS employees.
The SSS communications department did not respond to a request for comment.
