Free classes in video production for high school students will start next week, part of a collaboration between Gandhi Brigade Youth Media and Montgomery County Public Libraries.

Classes will meet weekly from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and run through May 25. Students will learn about the fundamentals of video production and create a short film of their own during the sessions.

Locally, a class will meet on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 23 at the Long Branch Library at 8800 Garland Ave. Another class will be held on Thursdays beginning Jan. 25 at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre, 8641 Colesville Rd.

Gandhi Brigade Youth Media is an afterschool program founded in 2008 to empower young people in the region to use multimedia as tools to promote community building, multicultural understanding and the common good, as well as use media arts as a developmental path for personal and community growth.

Students can register for classes online. For more information, contact Mary Ellen Icaza at 240-777-0006.
