ALDI will hold the grand opening of its store at 9440 Georgia Ave. on Thursday, Nov. 30.

The ceremony will include a ribbon cutting at 7:50 a.m. Afterward, the first 100 customers will receive a Golden Ticket, each containing ALDI gift cards in various amounts.

In addition, the company will distribute eco-friendly shopping bags and hold a sweepstakes drawing to win free produce for a year.

According to the company, the Silver Spring store is part of a $3.4 billion investment plan ALDI recently announced to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022. ALDI currently has more than 1,600 stores in 35 states, serving more than 40 million customers each month.

“The new Silver Spring store will have five aisles and about 12,500 square feet of selling space, as is typical for new ALDI stores,” Frederick division vice president Jeff Baehr said via email to the Source earlier this year.

The remodeled space, formerly a Staples store, will include natural lighting and environmentally friendly building materials such as energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting, he added.

Once the store opens, hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
