Dangerous Wind Storm Whips Silver Spring

A high-impact storm is moving through the area through Saturday, leaving downed trees, power lines and numerous cancellations in its wake.

A High Wind Warning has been issued through 6AM Saturday by the National Weather Service.

Montgomery County Government is open with liberal leave for non-essential employees. MCPS is closed. Recreation programs, classes, and activities are canceled. Senior Centers are closed and Recreation Centers are open for drop-in activities only. OPM is reporting that all Federal offices are closed.

MARC Train services are also canceled for today, and WMATA is reporting slower-than-normal Metrorail service:

Numerous power outages have been reported in Montgomery County, as many as 15,000 according to Bethesda Beat:
