White Oak Walgreens Set to Close Doors in February, According to Report

The Walgreens store at 11215 New Hampshire Ave. Suite A in the White Oak Shopping Center is set to close in February, as reported by The MoCo Show.

Walgreens and its parent company, Walgreens Boots Alliance, announced last year that they would be closing some stores in the coming months. With nearly 9,000 stores in the United States, Walgreens plans to close 150 locations by the end of its fiscal year at the end of August, along with 300 locations in the United Kingdom, according to CNN.

The decision to close stores is attributed to reduced consumer spending and a decrease in demand for COVID-19 vaccines. CEO Rosalind Brewer said to CNN last June that the company was increasing its cost-savings efforts to $4.1 billion and “taking immediate actions to optimize profitability for our US healthcare segment.”

Although The MoCo Show’s report did not specify a closing date, an employee at the White Oak Walgreens location confirmed that the store would close in February.
