20 Years of Arts on the Block: Downtown Silver Spring Block Party on Jan. 20

Arts on the Block will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a block party in downtown Silver Spring.

Guests can take part in creating mosaic artwork, printmaking, button making, storytelling masks, face painting, and self-care art activities. There will also be raffles and auctions featuring custom artwork or cash prizes as rewards. Each participant will receive a goodie bag with Arts on the Block merchandise, and there will be snacks and refreshments available.

Event activities tailored to specific age groups include:

YAM (Youth Arts Movement) Art Activity (3+ years old):

  • Mosaic Foam Art Activities
  • Storytelling Mask
  • Emotions Wheel
  • Affirmations Card
  • Coloring Pages

TAP (The Apprentice Program) Art Activity: (14-19 years old):

  • Button Making – Mini Coloring Page for Buttons
  • Coloring Pages

Studio Crew Art Activity: (19+ years old):

  • Mosaic Frame Activity with Polaroid (Tag #AOB on Instagram)
  • Affirmations Card
  • Printmaking

Tickets are priced at $15 per person and can be purchased online until the day of the event. The event is scheduled for Jan. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Arts on the Block, which is on the first floor of the Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library building, located at 900 Wayne Ave. in downtown Silver Spring.
