Taco Bell Cantina Construction Update

Construction continues at the upcoming location of Taco Bell Cantina in downtown Silver Spring.

We previously reported that Taco Bell Cantina would open in the former home of Pollo Campero at 8662 Colesville Rd. The location is currently being built out, with flooring, kitchen equipment, lighting fixtures, and some seating having been installed. There’s also a walk-up window near the entrance for faster service, a feature found in all Taco Bell Cantina locations since the first location opened in San Francisco in 2015.

Exterior signage was installed this week, and hiring is currently underway; interested candidates can apply on Taco Bell’s website.

In addition to traditional Taco Bell fare, the Cantina will offer alcoholic beverages like wine, beer, sangria, and “twisted freezes.” This will be the fifth Taco Bell Cantina in the region, joining locations in Court HouseOld Town AlexandriaColumbia Heights, and Chinatown.

A construction worker previously stated that they want the location to be open by the end of the year. However, a liquor board hearing for the restaurant’s beer, wine & liquor license application is scheduled for January 4, 2024.

Taco Bell Cantina, Java Nation, Outback Steakhouse and Commas at Ellsworth Place, as well as Solaire Social, are all set to open soon in downtown Silver Spring.
