Police: Silver Spring Man Arrested for String of Residential Burglaries

Montgomery County Police say that 41-year-old Tremaine McDowell has been arrested and charged with a series of burglaries in downtown Silver Spring.

This arrest came after officers went to his residence for a domestic violence-related call and saw piles of Apple MacBooks, iPhones, and other electronics.

According to an MCPD news release, detectives investigated a series of residential burglaries that took place between June and November of 2023 in the Lenox Park Apartments, The Veridian, and the Arrive Silver Spring apartment buildings in downtown Silver Spring.

During the investigation, McDowell became a suspect.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at around 9:49 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 8700 block of 1st Ave. in downtown Silver Spring for a report of a domestic-related assault involving McDowell. While on the scene, officers saw piles of Apple MacBooks, iPhones, AirPods, and other items of evidentiary value in the living room. McDowell had left the scene before officers arrived.

That day, detectives obtained a search warrant for McDowell’s apartment. They found items of evidentiary value, including apartment building key fobs and three loaded firearm magazines.

At about 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, McDowell was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with multiple burglary-related charges and domestic violence-related crimes.

McDowell is currently being held without bond.

MCPD detectives urge residents to lock their apartment doors, even when living in a secure apartment complex.
