Police: Dealer Charged in Connection With Fentanyl Overdose of Silver Spring Man

Montgomery County Police say a Silver Spring man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and distribution of a controlled substance after an adult male overdosed last Christmas.

Junior Salvador Alvarez Paz is accused of selling a controlled substance to the victim on December 25, 2022. According to the Chief Medical Examiner, the death was caused by intoxication with fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl.

Detectives from the county’s Drug Enforcement Section determined through their investigation that the suspect had communicated with the victim Christmas morning and arranged to meet, where Alvarez Paz allegedly sold drugs to the victim, according to an MCPD news release.

The lab results from the drug found in the victim’s possession returned a positive result for fentanyl on May 3.

Alvarez Paz was arrested in Silver Spring on June 27, and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, MCPD said.
