Officials: Kitchen Fire at Hotel Silver Spring Contained by Sprinklers

County fire officials say sprinklers controlled a kitchen fire at the Hotel Silver Spring on Saturday afternoon.

A fire was reported at the Hotel Silver Spring at 8727 Colesville Rd. at approximately 1 p.m., according to county Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer. As firefighters arrived, there was little smoke left in the building, but the building was evacuated. The fire occurred in a kitchen on the first floor of the hotel and was completely contained by the sprinkler system.

No injuries were reported, and the health inspector and code enforcement were notified, Piringer said.

The hotel, formerly the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Silver Spring, was rebranded and reopened as Hotel Silver Spring in April.
