Suspect Sought in Fatal Hit-and-Run of Silver Spring Man; $10,000 Reward Offered

Detectives from the county’s Collision Reconstruction Unit are asking for the public’s help identifying a vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run collision Saturday that killed a 30-year-old Silver Spring man.

At approximately 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue responded to a report of an assault in the 800 block of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring. An adult male was found suffering from injuries when officers arrived on the scene. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to an MCPD press release.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Elmer Camacho-Aguilar of Silver Spring.

Based on the physical evidence and consultation with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Washington D.C., the investigation has revealed that Camacho-Aguilar was the victim of a hit-and-run collision. The driver of the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, MCPD said.
