$10,000 Reward Offered for Block Party Shooting Suspects

Montgomery County Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in a shooting that occurred at a block party in White Oak last Friday evening that injured a 16-year-old girl.

Officers from the Third District responded at approximately 9:58 p.m. on Friday to multiple calls of shots fired at a block party in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. Officers arrived on the scene to find the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering, according to an MCPD news release.

Officers from the Second and Fourth Districts assisted the officers and detectives at the scene of the crime.

During the investigation, detectives learned that several people were at the block party when a dark-colored sedan with three to four occupants drove up and began firing into the crowd. No one else was injured during the shooting, with the exception of the teenage girl. Bullets struck three vehicles parked outside an apartment building.

A handgun and a high-powered rifle were found at the crime scene with over 30 shell casings, police said.
